You'll try out your new art supplies and do some experimenting with the materials using them to draw forms. In your sketchbook, on a fresh sheet, divide the page down the middle with a vertical line. Then, horizontally draw two more lines so that your now have the page divided into six windows. Three on one side and three on the other.
Working on the second two versions of the forms we shaded in the third using a cross hatching technique. The fourth the lightly penciled outlines were shaded in using a black felt tipped pen. Looking closely at the enlarged picture you can see a curlycue patten was used. Very tight and closed where in the dark areas and loos and open in the lighter areas.
Tuesday, March 11
Finishing the last two sets of forms we'll experiment with color. First, in both of the last two sets of forms each begin the same way. Each of three forms is shaded in with a different primary color (red, yellow or blue). Then, on the left side drawings, the shadow areas are created by using "analogous" over the primary colors. Blue over yellow, red over blue and red over blue. The final one on the bottom right's shadow areas are created by shading over the primary colors with their "compliments" (opposites). Purple over yellow, orange over blue and green over red. The background colors in both are blends of all three primary colors
